Every little helps [a reel]

I’m not completely sure why I went the route of acting and modeling. Besides a few years of performing as a child and teen in and after school, I’ve never yearned after it to the degree others in the field passionately have. I haven’t pursued substantial formal training and don’t currently see myself as a natural dramatic actor (as for acting in other ways, virtually everyone puts on a “mask” for their daily interactions; yada yada). I don’t think I’m particularly model-looking (although my “elegant” hands have gotten their fair share of compliments).

I’m sure it was at least partly to escape an environment I found monotonous. I’ve worked about a decade in office roles and I’ve come to the conclusion that I prefer varying environments that change daily, more freedom and control in my schedule, ensuring I get enough sleep, not meeting the same people day in and day out (including not having to answer to the same person daily, or necessarily any person). Although in an ideal universe I’d have figured this out much sooner to focus on pursuits of more interest to me, I realize that for some, it takes experience or time to fully realize what it is they want.

That’s not to say that the entertainment industry can’t be monotonous, because it often is very monotonous. But not to the same macro level or consistency as a corporate setting, in my experience.

Womp womp! To quote the Joker: Why so serious? Just a rant trying to piece together my career, as a career is something most people consider important. Since that’s done, more about my entertainment history to wrap things up.

I was eligible to join SAG-AFTRA within a few months of starting my acting pursuits in 2017 and have since done gigs, acting and modeling, for small names and big names, shown on my resume. I’ve auditioned for speaking parts in a few network TV shows (including Orange is the New Black and Mr. Robot). I missed a few principal opportunities due to scheduling issues which fortunately were all relatively small projects. I’ve been spotted by former office colleagues on television which I suppose is pretty cool, including as a cop promoting a law firm on cable TV, and as a lawyer in a ReelShort show.

I likely won’t be famous, but apparently I will be spotted on TV.
