RECIPE: Healthy Breakfast Dessert (plant-based)

Fruit/Nut Oatmeal recipe by Connor Hawke

Summary

Tastes like a sweet fruity crunchy brownie washed down with milk. Except it’s healthy.

Description

I call this specific combo of 3 products “Healthy Breakfast Dessert” because it essentially tastes like a dessert, but all the ingredients are healthy. The specific trail mix is what makes the difference here (Go Take a Hike, by International Harvest). At 11g sugar per serving, it’s higher in sugar than the other nut/fruit mix I usually eat (Wilderness Poets), but it’s all from fruit (no added sugar) and only a half serving is needed for sufficient sweetness. The Orgain unsweetened vanilla almond milk and Alter Eco dark chocolate granola (sweetened only with dates and monk fruit) also add to the natural sweetness without added sugar. All organic.

Benefits

Time

Up to 1 minute

Ingredients

#1: Alter Eco Organic Granola (preferably Dark Chocolate or Almond Butter flavor).

#2: International Harvest “Go Take a Hike!” organic trail mix (mixed raw pecans, cashews, pistachios, white mulberries, and coconut flakes).

#3: Orgain Organic Almondmilk +Protein Unsweetened Vanilla (shaken).

Steps

  1. Add a serving (e.g. 1/3 cup) of ingredient #1 to a bowl.
  2. Add a lesser amount – e.g. half serving (1/8 cup) – of ingredient #2 to the bowl (basically about half as much trail mix as there is granola).
  3. Shake ingredient #3 and pour enough of it to nearly cover the top of the mix.

How to eat

Use a spoon. Ideally combine multiple ingredients per bite. Optionally pair with a glass of additional Orgain milk to side, or other healthy beverage of choice.
